Also, what type of battery can I replace it with (values, etc...) considering the one that was leaking I can't make out the values?
I removed the battery out of a A1500 and it worked fine. I'd use one of these
http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1093 You could probably get a cheaper solution, but it's a guaranteed drop in replacement & it ought not leak again. It's not rechargeable so when the coin cell runs out you will need to put a new one in there.
