George Braun A1000
« on: December 21, 2012, 07:54:26 PM »
Does anyone know if George Braun has released his version 5 reproduction A1000 main board? This is reported to have a native 060, plenty of ram, an a600 style IDE, and even a clock port.

I do like the concept George has worked out with his previous board revisions. Other than a few original chips, one is building brand new hardware. I was thinking in terms of what to do if the original hardware I have died for good.

He did offer a limited number of PCBs (10 AFAIR) with his own prototype run on a1k.org.

These were sold out in less than a day and AFAIK he does not plan to do any more (and won't release the specs and files needed to create more).

That is too bad. For those that build those things, I'm sure the Amiga experience would be pretty cool. It is half tempting to dive into George's older revision of this board. With the additional upgrade boards, one can still have a cool rig.
