Water in PC Floppy Drive...
« on: September 26, 2011, 12:43:07 PM »
Alright everyone, I ended up getting some water in my pc (not amiga) floppy drive.  I noticed when I ejected a disk there was water drops on the bottom of the metal flap.  What I think happened is that I had a water-ring from a soda on my desk, and the floppy disk accidentally got in it.  I powered down the computer and removed the diskette drive.  After opening the drive, I don't see any water in there.  I am planning on letting it air out for a few days.  However, how can I be sure the water is gone?  Can I use a hair dryer? I know this seems like a lot of bother over a pc floppy drive, but it is a drive with a custom eject mechanism to work with my optiplex case (and I still use floppies for a few things...:))
Once there was a man and a boy in the woods.

Boy: I\'m scared...

Man: Hah! What have you got to be afraid of? I\'m the one that\'s going to be coming back alone!
