Jinx ... I've been looking to buy a reasonable A1000 locally for a few years now and just got home 10 minutes ago with one I picked up off of my local Craigslist. Came with 1080 monitor, 1060 sidecar, DigiView, Perfect Sound digitizer, external floppy, etc. Everything seems to be original, working, and in good condition. Not bad for $75 I think. I'll have to find some time to play with it tomorrow.

I always had a soft spot for the A1000 as it's the first one I saw, and I think the case looks great. I've been a bit put off by the expandability, but interesting enough I'm just reading now that the sidecar can host a hard drive? That will be interesting to try and get going. I now have an A1000, A2000, and 4000D - now I just need a cheap A3000 to complete my collection, the one I want the most actually.

I'm very jealous of that chap who got his with all expansions for $75...

Sorry about that ... I did spend a few days cleaning all the grime off everything since then and I must say it's all in absolutely excellent pristine condition, it looks brand new. :D

Well you may have to just be patient to find one, took me quite a while. It does seem like they are getting rarer as time goes on though, maybe people are holding on to them now. I think people are more like to "collect" 1000s and more like to "use" other Amigas. I did see one other 1000 for sale locally here for $60 a ways back. So they may be rare here too, but they do seem a lot cheaper than over there when you can find one.

My 1000 is probably the favourite in my collection of a 2000, 3000, and 4000, from a collect-ability point of view, mostly because it's in as new condition and the others aren't. This 1000 is gonna get babied.

Good luck on the quest.

I've been casually collecting Amiga gear for I guess a couple of years now and I've found the key at least in my local market seems to be lots of patience. I've only ever bought stuff off my local craigslist, the good thing here is stuff seems to be about 1/4 the price it would go for on ebay. The bad thing is an Amiga probably only pops up about once every 3 months. Though lucky for me it seems like I am pretty much the only local buyer within a populous of 2,000,000 so it hasn't been hard to snag anything I wanted yet.

Now I just gotta learn to resist buying stuff I don't really need dammit ... my basement is getting crowded with Amiga stuff. I thought I had almost everything I wanted but I couldn't stop helping myself to a nice A3000T with Picasso 4, Concierto, ethernet and an 040 that I picked up a few of days ago. I think I'll still look for a nice clean A3000D though. It's gonna be hard to resist more gear though if it comes up for rock bottom prices. I guess I'll hope for an 060 for less than $100 but chances of that are probably about 1% in my lifetime.
