Does anybody know if HTML5 support will be coming to AmigaOS3.9/4.x browsers at some stage?

Lack of Flash support has been a deal breaker before in terms of using an Amiga for everyday use.

Proper HTML5 support could be a chance to get actual Amiga's on the net again!

Or is the above statement a bit mental?

I don't know why AOS4 wouldn't support HTML5. OWB under MorphOS supports it. But its still not an adequate substitute for flash as html isn't used on nearly as many sites. Some YouTube videos will run with it (not all), and it still requires some processor power (but not as much as flash).

I don't think older Amiga OS' would have enough CPU power to run HTML5 unless run via an emulator.

I use OWB everyday. Maybe it lacks some polish, but Fab's done a great job on it considering he's only one person.

Do they still think they're going to get Timberwolf working? Without any better implementations of flash than we have, and a more complex port, I think they're being slightly over-optomistic.

Indeed. Some seem to forget that port of Firefox doesn't give you flash. Also, personally I think that it is immensely stupid to not improve any other browser just because some FF port is said to be coming.

I'd advice against putting all eggs in the same basket.

Well I feel reassured that I made the right choice (on OS'), but it leaves me wondering. What do they use as an internet browser for AOS4?

Well, not anytime soon unless if someone is "stupid enough" to port the MorphOS OWB. Of course HTML5 is also possible via some other routes, but none of them is as straight forward.

Since my own Powermac did not run HTML5 fast enough until I upgraded the processor, porting Fab's work to AOS4 probably doesn't make sensde.
Most hardware running AOS4 would not be powerful enough to display HTML5 code any better than my original 933Mhz G4.

He rather quit because he was unwilling (or unable?) to make it better, despite the great amount of donations.
And no, I have no problem writing this, after he has insulted my work numerous times.
