Amiga 1200 in a 19" rack I just purchased $60AUS
« on: March 04, 2010, 09:37:32 AM »
I just won an ebay auction on ebay for an Amiga 1200 in a 19" rack.

It has no keyboard, but it does have a floppy drive.

I will require a keyboard to ps2 adaptor
I will also require an Amiga mouse (does a usb to ps2 adaptor work with the optical mouse?)
I have a 120 gig 2.5" hard drive here, can I use the full capacity?
I will also need an accelerator or a ram expansion board at some stage later on (happy to be patient on that one).

The last Amiga 1200 I had, had 2 x 40 meg hard drives.....ah those were the days.

I paid $60AUS for it and hopefully that is a good price (though postage is going to be double that).

Okay, don't rub it in!

I was meant to bid on that, but I was feeding babies and completely forgot! My high bid would've been a bit more than $60 too :-(

I can't see how postage would be much more than $50 though...

Mike.

Well I was prepared to pay up to $77 as my max bid.

Anyway postage is going to be around $66.00 due to the size of it to Hobart.

Now I have to get some keyboard adaptors, a mouse, etc

I have a 120 gig 2.5" ide hard drive here, but I may go the compact flash route.

It will probably end up costing me over $500 all up to get it where I want it to be eg accelerator, compact flash, keyboard, mouse, etc. but should be fun doing it and can do it over time.

You probably already have a few Amiga's anyway, I've only got Amiga Forever at the moment and wanted a "real one" :-)

I'll let you know how it all goes....hopefully it arrives safe and well!

Interesting, can't say I recognize that one. Maybe an individual hardware hacker with a really good machine shop in the basement? :)

Yeah I haven't heard back from the seller yet.  But hopefully will have it later on next week, once I get his details of where it has to be picked up from by courier.

@tasmanian guy,

Wish I did have loads of Amigas! :-) I have an old A500 and the CD32...

I really want an A3000, but they seem to be as rare as hens' teeth at the moment!

Cheers,

Mike.

P.S. My high-bid was going to be $110! :-)

In that case I am glad you did not bid! :rtfm:
I tried to get a CD32 from Analogic, but gave up on that idea!

I think now I'll put around $500 in this Amiga all up and also get the fpga arcade board (minimig with AGA) once it is available and working nicely.  What specs are your Amiga 500 and CD32 (any addons?).

I am heading over to Melbourne in April (hopefully) may look around for some more Amiga stuff that I can bring back.

congratulations on your purchase.
In behave of the entire amiga world....

Thanks, I can't wait to get it!  Hopefully later next week.  If anyone is interested I am happy to make a stencil of the back frame if anyone else wants to mount their Amiga in a 1RU case.

Now is there anywhere such as a business that can make a template for a 1RU cases so other people can put 1200 motherboards into a nice rack?

I've just come across a CD rom drive in a desktop that uses the 44 pin IDE (ie doesn't require any additional power cords, all supplied through the IDE cable).

If the A1200 comes with an Amiga 500 power supply (the beefy one) can I run this as well as a compact flash adaptor off the one connection on the motherboard?
