You may be right, but a lot of manufacturers state 4:3.
 
Here's an example:

But if I do the math, it is closer to 5:4 than 4:3.

The specs on that model list the visible area:
 
Display Area
14.8" horizontal x 11.9" vertical; 19" diagonal
 
Although they state 4:3, if you do the math it's closer to 5:4.
