I would think that it'd be rather easy to get the GNU utilities working if one had GCC compiled. There might already be one, if I understand correctly, Commodore's UNIX was just a straight port of SVR4 (with only the GUI having real hardware customizations).
Of course, I might be totaly wrong, but that'll happen... :-D
Anyhow, all these new applications for X would run dog slooooow: anything based off QT or GTK.
