There is no alternative to the X1000 yet- not until the X5000 comes out. The Peg II is far slower than the X1000 (partially because of CPU speed but also much faster RAM in the X1000) and doesn't support things like faster USB, PCI Express etc. - and also you can't use a RadeonHD in a Pegasos II.
