I think there's a preferences program to set what drives you have, what soundcard emulation you want, that sort of thing. Have you run that? Or is that what you meant by the hard disk program?
Try it in an A500 and see if you set the settings on it that way.
You've put in a new battery?

Do you have a known good battery in it? When you turn off your Amiga and then on again, did it save the preferences of the floppies and soundblaster and stuff?

Edit: did you try it with all caches turned off, by the way?

The PowerPC board is 10MHz and supports Soundblaster and stuff. It'll be a fair amount faster I think.... but I imagine the main reason for using it is because it's there :)

I know there was a special version for the A500+ - which is the same generation as your A3000 - so it's not too surprising there are troubles.
Keep the KCS in your A500 and put a GoldenGate in your 3000... that's what I did anyway! :)
