It's not
that slow. I use mine with a CD-R (4x writes perfectly happily), and a Zip drive. Faster than internal IDE for sure.
I've never had any problems with my Oktagon, always been very good reliable hardware. Mine's in my 4000 CSPPC/060 BTW.
