I recommend Amiga Forever & Amithlon but some members of the Amiga community hate people what use Amiga emulators and attack at all costs, Example of these attacks click HERE

It all depends on what you want really, emulators are great for people like myself to run all my favorite Amiga programs at great speeds on hardware i choose and have Windows to run Software/games which Amiga does not have.

I would recommend you get Amithlon aswell as Amiga Forever.

i dont think you can go higher than 3.1 on amiga forever if i remember rightly

Nope, Anything was runs on current Amigas (68K software) will run via emulation.

Plus the extra benefit is you have more compatibility with emulation than a souped up Amiga.

The only two bad things i can say i had with  Amithlon are.

1. Installing it so it duel boots with Windows was a complete nightmare

2. Getting some hardware to work was a pain,

Otherwise Amithlon is a superb piece of software and everyone who has a x68 box and is a Amiga user should get it.

If your after a emulator what is great for games and old software then UAE and especially Fellow are hard to beat.

Do I need to buy the Operating System or does Amiga Forever come with 3.9 or whatever version.

You can purchase  OS3.9 if you choose to  but Amiga Forever comes with 3.1 so you can get it up and running straight away.

You DO NOT need to purchase any Amiga operating system with AF unless you want to run the latest AOS (some with tell you otherwise but it is lies).
