Help !! My A1200 crashes after 5 secs !! What causes it ?
« on: December 06, 2002, 08:05:46 AM »
My old A1200 died months ago. Now have got a 'new' board with 2 (different) 3.0 kickstarts. Wanted to build it into a tower with Z4 busboard and Blizzard 1230/4. So I did not want to make any mistakes so I tried to be careful. Switching on an external power supply on a naked board resulted in an 3.0 screen. Did not wait 5 secs or longer. Later build it into my Infinitiv (plastic) tower and added Blizzard 1230/4 with 32 Mb module and connected internal power supply. It all started but after 5 seconds it hangs for no reason. If I'm fast enough I can get into the early startup menu and see that the floppy DF0 is connected. Any further than that is out of the question. Now before I started taking everything apart I want to know if this is a known problem. Does it mean that my motherboard is damaged or are the kickstart 3.0 wrong ?? Would it help to replace them by 3.1 chips ?? There is no harddrive connected yet to the tower, only DF0, also no scsi controller. Any bright ideas might be very welcome !!  :-)

Problem is now solved. Tried a different floppy drive because the previous one was used in an Amiga Technologies motherboard. Now it works again, so far. Am now trying to format a 3,5" old Seagate of 123 Mb  with an unformattable track on it ... but I got that hd for free so I don't complain.
Thanx for the help and advice !!
