You will need a router if you want it working, but yes it will work. The need for a router is due to the lack of DHCP in it. Most cable services are DHCP these days. The router will talk to the cable service and take care of the IP addressing. All you do then is set the router to issue a static IP address and tell Genisis the info it needs from the routers settings. Its that simple...
