I still swear by my ACARD. You can get the one that shows its only for CD/DVD drives (7722) and remove the bios and reflash it of you have a programmer.  Its more work but will save you about $40-$60 depending on the ebay sellers.

Do what I do, ACARD with an IDE to SATA adapter for my SSD. Works perfectly fine.
