Amiga and Routers

Hey guys, I have a few questions for all you fellow cable modem users out there. I have my A3000 connected to a switch with my PC and cable modem to get online. I have problems with my Amiga loosing the connection all the time and decided to go the router route. Can anyone tell me the proper setting in the router to get it all working? I am using a linksys router.

Static IP for Amiga
Netmask- 255.255.255.0
(Router IP) -Gateway usually 192.168.1.1

I have found this works so much better than putting Miami at DHCP on all of the above...

Can you give me some more info? Whats the best way to input all the stuff into MiamiDX? Ect??? I guess I am asking for all the numbers. I am using DHCP mode now and have loads of problems.

MiamiDX has a few DHCP bugs. One is that it can't renew a permanent lease - it just quits and goes offline with an error message after 20 min or so.

Thats EXACTLY what it sounds like I am having problems with. I loose connection after about 20 mins, or even at times a matter of mins. I can never get the lease to renew. I wonder if I can turn up the time the lease gets checked on the linksys router I have? I get home in a month so I can fool with it all. I've never used a router before, but hear its the way to go.
