If you like the looks of things with a mediator you should check out a Pegasos II and MorphOS! I was also a long time Amiga user and switched over to a Pegasos. I have never once regreated it.
Much easier to configure, looks like the Amiga you love and has a lot more hardware support. It will even run most of the things you plan to run using a mediator with a voodoo card.
