A2091 modification

I just found this interesting reference (I might be slow on the uptake), "...built in XT IDE (8 bit) hard disk controller - the connectors and LED are not installed but their place is visible on the card...".

Has anyone added these parts?  Is anything else required?  Does it work with the IDE to Compact Flash adapters?
