I don't think the disk becomes invalidated in FFS2, but I'm not 100% sure. Anyway, a good way to minimize the problem is to use a separate cache partition.

I wouldn't dream of using IB without one...
Well, it's not just for IB, it's more of a general "/tmp" partition, which I think is always a good idea to have.

As for it being a resource hog, I suspect it leaks memory like there's no tomorrow (at least something on my system does, MUI is my prime suspect).

IB itself leaks like a sieve, and doesn't return the memory on exit. The main culprit is supposedly the image decoders, but even with images turned off I usually have to reboot to get my RAM back if I'm going to run anything memory hungry after IB.

The memory leak fixes is one of the things I'm looking forward to the most with IB 2.3.

The IB memory leaks are one third of the reasons as to why I'm rarely browsing on an Amiga nowadays. (The other reasons of course being speed (hardware...) and compliance with at least moderately modern web standards.)

IBrowse is just fantastic. From a user interface point of view, its how browsers should be... If only it was up to date with web standards *sigh*

Agreed! UI wise it's excellent, with a load of really useful features which I found hard to live without until they were implemented in e.g. Galeon.
Now imagine the IB UI using the Gecko rendering engine and things like up to date Flash support...

Still, it works well enough to work on all the sites I visit (except 1), and works fine with my internet banking.

Oh, if I only were that lucky. My bank doesn't even accept Mozilla and its derivates. :P

It was kind of funny when they blamed that on "security reasons" and still allowed IE! :)

btw aint ib update supposed to come with os4 ? (for free i mean)

AFAIK 2.3 will be a free upgrade for us 2.2 owners, and a "light" version (better than a "demo" but not quite the Real Thing) will be bundled with OS4.

I expect to be corrected if I've misunderstood that. :)
