[22:13:37] *Gold* Who are the AmigaOnePartners, and who owns OS4?
[22:15:28] The AmigaOne Partners are collectively Hyperion and Eyetech. Amiga, Inc. licensed them the right to develope AmigaOS 4.0 in 2001. In consideration of this they have defined distribution rights.
2. Does Hyperion (I refer to AmigaOne Partners) have the right to extend OS 4.0 to say 4.1?
Yes they do.
3. Will they (extend that is)?
That is a business decision. I would assume If AmigaOne Partners find the market, we all hope to see, this decision is obvious.
If this means what it looks like it means, i.e. that Eyetech have some say whatsoever about AmigaOS itself and what hardware it will be sold for (beyond their
own permission to distribute 3rd party hardware bundled with AmigaOS), then AmigaOS is obviously dead.
Saving (well, at least "not killing") AmigaOS would no longer simply be a matter of AInc dropping the compulsory hardware licensing/bundling idea. It would mean that Eyetech would have to give up the rights they were contractually granted when the "old" AInc were in a drunken stupor or whatever. That won't happen, unless they get the "old" AInc people to pleed temporary insanity and declare the contract void...
Then again, with this interpretation of what Hare said, it would mean that the "old" AInc were lying when they claimed that they welcomed new licensees to compete on equal terms with the other licensee, which now "has been licensed the development of AmigaOS", "have defined distribution rights" and is a "Partner" with the software producer. On top of that Hare didn't seem to be quite up to date on simple things like what AmigaOS or an "AmigaOne" really are, and all that "Partner" and "licensed the development of AOS" could be marketing hyperbole best left ignored.
1. Is Amiga, Inc. planning to kill off AmigaOS 4.0?
No, no, no and NO!
ROTFL!
If we're to take what he said at face value, AmigaOS was killed by the "old" AInc and Eyetech in 2001. Besides, what the hell kind of answer would anyone expect to get from that question?
- "Are you planning on killing Mr. X?"
- "Mr Y repeatedly shot Mr X in the head with a howitzer. Then he fed the recoverable pieces of Mr X's body to the pigs. I will now chop up those pigs with this axe, set fire to the pieces, grind down the charred remains, and keep them in my freezer. So, no, no, no and NO!, I'm not planning to kill Mr X."

Garry Hare clears some points ...
Oh? So that's what it is? To me it looks like the same all over again, plus replies to questions that nobody's asked.
... and reveal OS4 running on a new hardware.
From the word "elsewhere", you come to the darndest conclusions to post as a factual news item here.

Another possible interpretation: Amiga = an Amiga (with a CS/PPC). Elsewhere = something other than an Amiga, like an "AmigaOne".
There's no way to tell exactly what these answers mean.
Don't you remember Fleecy claiming to be impressed by AmigaOS4 running on an "AmigaOne" - way before development had even started on AmigaOS4, and when the Escena AmigaOne didn't even have a northbridge?

20 questions to Eyetech?
What for? Eyetech are in no position to answer all those questions about hardware development, future Teron models et c. It's like asking your local supermarket about possible future dairy products instead of asking the dairy.
Don't people already know what the answers will be to those questions anyway? They'll get to hear what they want to hear ("we're looking in to that, we're planning Improvement X, we can't tell you that yet but things look great, we'll do better in the future, we retroactively declared those to be "developer boards" so {bleep} off and buy our new stuff", [insert idiotic meta-conspiracy "blue side" strawman bullcrap]) and post so many dancing bananas in response that an A4000 with a working 8MB chip-RAM jumper would balk at viewing the thread.

Here are some questions from me, with regards to the latest ownership shuffle at AInc. In case someone's who's still got their Portal account would like to try to post them...
Are Eyetech in any way whatsoever, directly or indirectly, involved in making decisions about AmigaOS target hardware (other than what you sell or plan to sell yourself) and the licensing of other vendors?
Garry Hare said that you ("collectively" with Hyperion) have been licensed the development of AmigaOS4. Is he only referring to the specific AmigaOS4 version to be sold with the hardware you're selling, or AmigaOS4 in general (all versions/revisions developed by Hyperion)?
