It is possible to convert an A1200 PSU to the CD32, see my illustrated guide.

The A1200 PSU can supply 3 Amps @ 5V, the SX32 Pro needs 2.19 Amp and the stock CD32 PSU only supplies 2 Amps.

Good luck,

Ian

What I am trying to do is to connect an A500 PSU to a CD32. Should I connect the Sheilding?

No, don't bother it will make absolutely no difference.

Incidentally, that CD32 power adapte on ebay, I made one for 1.50 UKP all in, 1.00 UKP for the Y-cable and 0.5 UKP for the 4 pin DIN plug, both easily available.

Just check you have the right voltages on the right pins before plugging into the CD32, $5 on a cheap multimeter saves a CD32!

@leirbag28

Have you tried bypassing the power switch of the CD32, they oxidise and cause a voltage drop. I soldered some big wire across the contacts on the underside.

The other thing I did was to solder 2 wired (0VL & +5V) from the power input to the power pins of the IDE connector, this fixed all my power problems.

I could supply pictures of what to wire where tomorrow if you need them?

Hello,

I have put 2 pictures online here:

http://www.ianstedman.co.uk/Downloads/SX32-HDD-Power.jpg and here:

I used 'normal' (7/0.2) wire which is rated at 2.5Amp, enough for this job.

Good luck.
