Picked up an A1000
« on: July 04, 2013, 04:47:13 PM »
A few weeks back I was gifted a A1000 boxed with the original A1010 floppy, also boxed along with a 1080 monitor boxed.  As soon as I powered up the 1080 it blew something and smelled bad.  I got my Prevue SyncStrainer and hooked it up to a LCD monitor and the A1000 works fine.  The A1k also smells like burnt electronics but functions fine.  I dont know if its a ex-smokers machine and its been aired out or whatnot.   But I'll disassemble it fully to give it a good cleaning.

I have a few questions since I've never owned a A1k.  Do I always need a kickstart disk or is there a upgrade I can do that eliminates the need?  What other mods do you guys recommend?  Not looking for an accel.  This will be something I use for gaming or retro computing fun.

Thanks for the replies.  I'll read up on the links.  I'm assuming I'll have the equivalent sharp display with a. Sync strainer as a 1084?
