If you want OS4 go get Pegasos 2. It is the fastest Amiga out there. 1GHz G4 (AltiVec), two ethernet ports AGP, 3xPCI, gameport, on board audio and as a bonus you can run MorphOS.

$660 sounds reasonable for complete system.

I agree that the Peg2 G4 does offer a really good solution...if you can find one.  I was lucky, I bought an almost complete system (no psu) through the forums here.  It looks like it wasn't a bad price although I have lavished a new case, new hdd, new super-multi drive, new gfx card on it  :-D  Which added a fair bit to the cost.  Morphos2.2 is a nice os and I've ordered os4.1 from Amigakit who I've always found reliable.

I bought my SAM from vesalia who gave good service. I really like the SAM, it's so quiet and small (my case is only about 7cm tall). On the whole you wouldn't think it had such a "slow" cpu. The most concerning thing for me is the 64mb gfx mem (I use quite a lot of screens) so maybe the flex version is a better bet with the extra pci slots.

And where could one get a pegasos 2? Arent this as hard to get as the AmigaONE? I doubt the release of OS4.1 will make them cheaper or easier to get either.

That's why I'm feeling quite smug  :-D

I got my Pegasos 2 ODW for free, from Genesi. Now I could sell it at profit, how is that? :-D

You like me "wasted" money on the Sam though.
I would never have bought the Sam if i owned a pegasos and knew about the OS 4.1 release.

I still hope i get my Sam soon though... Arrived in norway on saturday and i am still waiting for it.  :-(

I don't feel that I wasted money on the sam.  I've had mine since November (I think, seems ages) and I've used it as my main computer every day since then.  I'm using it now in fact.  I wasn't really on the look out for a Peg but I knew morphos2.x was impressive (from using it on my Efika) so when one came up I thought "what the hell".  Now two weeks later os4.1 is available for Peg2 and OWB is out for morphos  :-D .

I hope you get your sam soon so you can start enjoying it.  I waited quite a number of weeks but it was worth it.
