About my problems with "volume system is not validated", yesterday I tried the DiskSalv without result.
I think I always got my disks validated when running DiskSalv. But sometimes it required 2 -3 runs to get fixed. The error can change between runs: "block xx used twice" "block out of range" or something like. Copying from a backup was always faster.
