I mean using a more powerful system to run old software. Why?
I do agree with the one poster who claimed to be a Linux fanboy. I've loaded Unbuntu on to my Mac and I prefer it to OSX.
Oh, if you like Linux you should understand it: emacs is antiquated - it doesn´t integrate to well with modern software and has cryptic key combos. All of what emacs can do can be accomplished with more modern, more specialized software. Same goes for LaTeX and bash. And if you don´t use any of these - are you sure you actually like Linux, or just Ubuntu/Gnome/KDE?
