Video Toaster 4000
« on: August 20, 2009, 01:20:07 AM »
Hey.  I bought a Video Toaster 4000 card.  It has no cables on it or software with it.  Do I need any special cables to make it work?  Where do I get software for it?  I have this Highflyer Expansion card installed in my Amiga 4000 and it has a special slot in it that is made specifically for Video Toaster.  That's where it's plugged in.

Let me know what to do.  From what I've seen there's some ribbon cable you're supposed to have and of course there is software.  I got it for $50 with shipping though so since I didn't need it anyway, I thought it best to go with one for cheap and figure out the particulars myself.

Regards,
Greg

I contact NewTek and they say I need to fill out a form and give them the last owners name and information and signed permission from the guy who sold it to me and then I can "talk to their tech support" which I don't need.  I said I need the ribbon cable and the software for VT4000.  I didn't send a picture last night because I thought that would be insulting but this is just some flea bay junk purchase.  There is almost no way the person who sold it to me is the registered owner.  I responded and told them if they want to sell me something let me know, but they need to give me some legal documentation explaining why they need a "transfer of ownership."  Yes they actually said "transfer of ownership."  We're not dealing with a car here are we?  No it's an old piece of junk hardware.

So enough rant.  Someone please tell me where I can get what I need.  I saw that link up above the 1st responder left.  It links to some thing that costs $199.95 and doesn't show me a picture.  So that doesn't really help me much.

How bout this... If YOU personally ever bought a VT4000 or NewTek product and were in my shoes, where would YOU go to buy something for it.  I know what NewTek is doing.  They're trying to sell me a warranty and stuff I don't need.  For God's sake I'm probably going to put some graphics over old VHS tapes with it.  I don't even own a camcorder!

@ceaser

Just tell them you want to buy the 4.3 convenance upgrade for the Amiga Video Toaster. NewTek can be hit or miss sometimes about Amiga depending who you get on the phone. Ask for customer service if your having problems. If you still can't get anything from them you can buy the upgrade from us new. We have a few and don't normally sell them but might make an exception. Your on your own finding the cable for the Flyer though. That's a little harder to come buy but should be with a Flyer card if you buy one of those later.

Here's my pic of what I DO have.  Pyromania: sorry I should have guessed that place was your store, discreet.fx

I wouldn't have been so harsh if I'd known I was talking to the actual person who could give me customer service there :)

I'll send PM
