I have big plastic stackable storage bins with rollers. It keeps everything dust free and dry. I could also shove them out of the house pretty quick if a fire broke out.
My diskbox also stays in one of the bins and they (the disks) have not decayed on bit.
Keep a bunch of anti-static bags, foam to put your components in.
The only thing I've noticed that goes bad no matter what are CD-Rs they are not built for long life.
