Mindless violence vs simulated violence
« on: February 14, 2010, 03:25:58 PM »
I was watching a gameplay video of Jurassic Park (console game) the other day, I was upset by the fact that you didn't just mow down T'rexs you also were expected mow down all the herbivores as well.

I think one of the fun part of games is that you play the 'hero'. Usually all enemies are henchman or bosses, it's not just mindless violence. There are moral choices involved.
For RPGs: I appreciate that some people would want take the evil path that's one of the fun aspect of games. It's bad when you have moral viewpoints forced upon you.
Violent games get the adrenalin going, it gives you satisfaction playing that you can't get from something like a farm simulator.

I love the game Smurfhunt. It's okay to blow away annoyingly cute blue things in the name of fun and humour.
I'd like hear some opinons on computer game violence.
