Go to the ACube web site and download the manual for the SAMep I have one at home but I'm at work...

You need to follow the instructions and make sure you have the HD and CDrom in the right SATA ports...

Start there

oh I see there was another page to this ordeal and you've got it running but now your drive is too big?

Enter the early boot up menu etc and set your boot device as the CDRom and see if you can just get a screen up etc... the hanging could be due to the internet initialising but if you don't have it on the harddrive already I'm not sure that would be a problem if not setup to start with...

I think I've read that sams draw so little power that some modern PSUs won't send any current.

That may explain why the drives worked as they would draw the expected current from the PSU.

Complete guess though.

I think I experienced this when I swapped out my 667 for the new 800 Flex... it wouldn't go in the nice snap in Thermaltake Tower case so ended up putting the Flex in the old A1 Tower... never got around to putting the 667 back in the nice new tower though it lives in an antistatic bag

I do recall something like that but for completion sake wouldn't you like to see it boot all the way into the workbench even if it's cdrom based?

and besides, you need to do this to pre your HD anyway etc

I mean you'd use your OS4.x cdrom to boot up then you'd use the tools on the cdrom to prepare and format your drive (this is when you'd discover where your drive is recognised or not) you install OS4.x and away you go (eject your cdrom and this time boot of your HD)

Don't try and use any template (not sure if they fixed it or not) just follow the instructions in the manual about what partitions to setup... since you have so much space it's up to you what size you make things but I wouldn't get too carried away with your SWAP partition (I don't even have one LOL) eg if you have a 512meg SAM then have a 1gig SWAP for example...

also, I think the default mask value for the SWAP or one of them is incorrect, check it after you've created it...

good luck! time for a shower and out for dinner for me!
