Which sam to buy?
« on: October 02, 2011, 06:39:19 PM »
Hi, i've just been given premission from the wife to buy myself a sam (providing I sell off some of my old stuff!)

Problem is im not sure which to get- should I get the sam460ex basic system

http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=37_86&products_id=1040

and add a radeon 4650 graphics card along with 2gb of ram for a grand total of £841.96

OR...

Do I wait and buy an amigaone 500 with the radeon graphics card for £944.47

Also... the sam from amigakit says DVDRW and SATA 4-port card is an extra £34.99 so do I presume that this computer has a standard dvd drive or even none at all!!???

Please give me some advice...

Thanks for the suggestions so far, im afraid doing it myself is not an option (am not great at that sort of thing)

I guess i will need the DVDRW, so the difference will be around £65. For that £65 i will get an amiga mouse worth £13.99, an acube t-shirt, a larger hd and 1.15gz as apposed to 1gz so i suppose the amigaone 500 works out as the best option, even though I would like to do it on the cheap.

I would have thought that the basic sam would have a dvd drive as standard...

Adding all the parts up makes the amigaone 500 seem competitive even though after shipping it will come in at over £950!

Actually, scratch the larger hd, they are both offering 500gb as standard...
