Lots of fun with MultiDOS and LHA
« on: February 12, 2009, 06:49:28 PM »
Well, I decided I'd try give gfxcon a go to try and alleviate my graphics conversion troubles.

So I went onto Aminet, got GFXcon, unlha'd it on a Linux PC, put it on a DOS disk (no catweasel), and put it in the Amiga, using MultiDOS (some sort of "improved" cross-dos type utility), because I couldn't install CrossDOS (for reasons I can't remember) and it happened to be pre-installed on a workbench 2.04 disk I had handy.

Unfortunately, everything has truncated to 8.3 format filename-wise, and when I try to click on GFXCON~3 or GFXCON~4, it brings up an "Unable to load your tool" message. I decided something must be ruining it in transition, so I tried to get lha.run from aminet to extract on my Amiga and extract everything from the Amiga... and now it's saying the archive is corrupt, although it's exactly the correct file size. I'll try again soon, but I doubt it'll work...

Is there anything that could be at fault here, and what would you advise me to do?

EDIT: I just compared a download of lha.run from Aminet to the one on my DOS disk with md5sum, and they match exactly. =(
