Funny side note about my GVP 040 accelerator... It was of course horribly expensive, and I had no real justification for purchasing it. But I ordered it anyway, and I came home from work in a blizzard one day, and found a scribbled note on my door from the postman that said "Back porch". I didn't have a back porch at the time, but I went to the back steps, which were covered in snow, and found nothing. I did see a yellow spot in the snow where a dog had urinated. And through the melted yellow snow I saw something... It was the package with my GVP 040.  :-o

Yes, I put a DKB Megachip in mine. You'll have to keeps your eyes busy, they are not that common anymore but I still see them from time to time.

Chris.

Does it help?

Anyone know where to get NoDrawNoFill.LHA which is mentioned on that Workbench website? I can't find it on Aminet.

I got a new version of the Installer, and WHDLoad works now, but I finally realized that you need the games to go with the loader.

Doy you know anyone using the Acube?

That's OS 3.1 and MUI 2. I just ordered MUI 3.8, and now I have to wait for them to send the registration

The Start Menu is this one here;

It's kinda cool.

Is 2 meg the most you can get?

Is OS 3.5 still available? Would I be better off with 3.5 or 3.9?

I just found that Board Master and Image Master are now free ware!

I wanted Board Master SO BAD back in the day...

No, I don't. Is there anywhere to get some decent software for it, other than Aminet?

Found someo neat looking software here;
http://www.amiga-arena.de/

Had to run the site through the Google translator, but it worked well. Some of it is AGA stuff, but I tried one of the other ones and it worked on my A2000.

One of my old PC's was an all SCSI system, and it has a Plextor CD burner in it, so I moght be able to use it in my A2000.

What CD burner software can I use on the Amiga? I have a Plextor 8/2/20 burner.

Wow! Lots of great stuff there! And now that I can read CD's on my Amiga it will be lots easier to get it over to my Amiga.

Thanks

I've tried several different null modem cables and can't get Amiga Explorter to work. It runs on the Amiga end, but it always fails to open on the PC side. I ordered a couple new null modem cables the day before yesterday.

Questions, questions, questions ;-(
« Reply #24 on: January 16, 2009, 12:43:29 AM »
What's the best photo/image editor for the Amiga? Can I convert PC images to use on my Workbench screen?

Is DOpus 5.xx still available?

I received a registration key for MUI, named MUI.KEY, but I don't know what to do with it?

Would a Highway USB Controller with Norway Ethernet for Highway USB be OK instead of an X-Surf?

If you were going had an A200, and you wanted to get another Amiga, would you get a A1200, or a A3000, or a A4000, or an ACube? Something with a tower case?

Have you ever heard of using a memory card as a hard disk? I saw something about someone using on on a website...

How can I repay all of you for all the help?

Very interesting rkauer. That's an awesome sounding A1200 system you have! I might have to think about getting an A1200 and slowly beefing it up. What do you like about it versus an A3000 or A4000?

Copying my MUI.KEY file to the Libs drawer took care of my MUI registration. Thanks!

How do I utilize the registration info listed on the Make CD site? The registration screen for Make CD has a entry box for "Registration number", and ghosted extry boxes for name and address.

The registration info on that site says:

Serial Number: 555555555
License Key: H8HsRww)7Uz)!iXE5PUMfgP#VymA6

I went digging around in the attic looking for some of my old Amiga stuff, and lo and behold I found a A1000, a external disk drive, and a bare bones A2000 with what appears to be a dead power supply.

Several of my friends had Amiga's, and I forgot that I inherited some of the hardware when they gave up on it.

I still can't find my bridgecard, and the combo audio amp and joystick autofire box that I built.

If I reinstall my bridgecard, and an NIC, how will that work? What network files will I need for MS-DOS? I've never used a network without Windows...

I found my bridgecard, but I'm not sure it it's worth reinstalling. It's a 286. I can't remember how it worked, ie: as far as hard drive access. I still have the files and icons for it on the Amiga side.

Also found my home made audio amp box, with joystick/mouse switcher and rapid fires. Whoo hoo!
