IDE-FIX97 won't install
« on: November 23, 2009, 01:38:20 AM »
I was able to get my CF card recognized in WINUAE and will work with that some more soon. (Thanks Harrison)

I have made some significant progress... Discovered that my GVP 030 has an after market guru rom V6.10 installed. (That is why gvpscsi.device doesn't work, the Guru uses omniscsi.device.) So now I threw in an olds scsi drive and was able to get it formatted and re-installed Amiga OS... Fully intended to load OS 3.5 from CD, threw the CD in and .... NOTHING

So I copied my ide-fix97 from my cf card to the new hd and it won't let me install it. Keeps erroring out saying it can't find the installer tool. WTF?

(I read somewhere something about having to copy this to the path, but I don't know what this means? I have copied it and moved it all over the drive and nothing seems to work.. (And I KNOW the program worked as it works on my CF card when I boot from there.)

Once again looking to the Amiga Gurus for any ideas..

Just move or copy the installer program (not the same as install) to the C drawer (drawer is the name for Amiga folder/directory) on the boot partition.

If you have the "naked" WB3.1 installed you need some more files first to make this happen: lha138.run and installer433 from Aminet.

That sounds like the ticket.  Definitely a "naked" install right off the floppies...  My question is who the HECK would know about these other 2 files since they are not part of the installation files?

(And thank you for the info... Will try this later once I get home from work..)

The Installer program is on the install disk in the main directory. You just need to copy it to your HDD.

The file on Aminet is only a newer version. And if you download something from Aminet you will soon notice that you need another program to unpack the archives. The help pages tell you which program this is. So it is not too difficult to "think of these two files".

Yeah I guess everyone should automatically think to manually copy several extraneous files from a particular directory after performing a complete install..  (Foolish of me to expect the install script to INCLUDE these files when installing the OS from scratch.) LOL

Anyway, thank you very much for the info as it will be put to good use this evening!
