A500 M-Tec 68020i vs. IDE68K
« on: February 04, 2016, 11:41:00 PM »
So, I just picked up an M-Tec 68020i and discovered something rather annoying.

I also have an IDE68K IDE interface installed and when I boot in 020 mode, my IDE interface isn't found!

I tried putting the IDE interface under the 020 board and above the 020 board in the 68K cpu socket.  No joy.

The only time the IDE interface is found is when I disable the 020 and boot in 68K mode.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Curtis

p.s.  The only documentation I've got with the board is the jumper settings and there's no mention of hard drive settings.

Don't think it's a timing issue.  I tried a reset after booting to see if it would eventually be recognized and no joy there.

I'm thinking methuselas is right about the cpu expansions not working.

I had a kipper2 RAM expansion and wasn't surprised when it wasn't recognized.  Was just hoping the  IDE interface would be able to sneak in there!

Fortunately, I just picked up and IVS Trumpcard so guess I'll add that to the machine.

NUTS!

Is it a timing? If so, should be able to adjust the startup delay of the HDD. At first, I thought the accelerator board had its own Kickstart chip on it, but guess not. That might have explained why another Kickstart (no IDE version of scsi.device) wasn't working.
