How can I 'leave out' Trashcan?
« on: July 20, 2009, 08:45:03 AM »
Hello,

I created two partitions, and under the System partition I have a directory called Programs and Games. When I formatted the partition I also created a Trashcan icon. The problem is this; I can leave out the Programs and Games directories, however I can not do the same with the Trashcan icon! Does anyone know if this is possible in some way or another? I would really like to have the Trashcan icon available from Workbench.

Regards,
Sim085

what version of workbench are you running? in version 3.5 and 3.9 you can use the commodity BenchTrash which running from WBStartup.

... sorry ... I thought I had mentioned it. I am using Workbench 3.1. When I try to use the leave out option the screen flashes and nothing happens (unlike a normal directory). I was wondering if maybe there is some way to make this work!

You can't leave out the trashcan.

Under 3.1 you can use a utility like globaltrash. http://aminet.net/package/util/wb/GlobalTrash

Thanks MozzerFan :) I will try that one out.

There is BenchTrash at Aminet and it works on all Amigas with Kickstart 2.0 or newer

I opted to use this one (BenchTrash). It is really great and does what I was looking for :)
