The display problem could be with the 1950 monitor not the A4000.  Do you have another monitor?
Use 1084 monitor.  Before using it, set workbench screen to something low like 320 by something...
pm send.

DO NOT FORGET TO REMOVE THE BATTERY !!! (the cylindrical shape thingy will leak and damage your board).

Thats great.  Just to be fair to Commodore engineers, the 1950 monitor was more meant for Amiga 3000, in fact all marketting material we have shows it on top of A3000.
