Best bet would be to check the user manual or download a copy online.... As I remember there are some pretty intricate jumpers settings to deal with - I just got done setting one up myself.
Also, if I remember right, if it is a 40mhz 68040 you have to use 60ns ram, 70ns for 33mhz, etc.
