Amiga 1000 playing 640x512, 24 bit video with sound using DCTV

For all you Classic Amiga lovers.

I removed this video from my September update so that people can see it in all its glory. Basically it is a bog standard 68000 powered Amiga 1000 but with internal IDE drive and external 8mb ram. The animation is a 640x512 animation using 3 bit planes Amiga 8 colour animation that once put through DCTV turns into a roughly 256,000 composite image that is then converted back to RGB.

Enjoy and remember this machine is 25 years old and then PC's could only manage monochrome displays and Macs had four grey levels.

My true first love in computers, and I do not need to hear about AGA either as that was years later

Yes I know I only actually animate the middle quarter, but she is old and I will do a full screen version for A3000 soon.

The AGA was actually wuite nice with the DCTV as the increased bandwith and speed helped out playback quite well.

You are absolutely right, I did run the same high resolution animation in Ham8 on A1200 with sound, did not need DCTV.

However, this is to show what was capable nearly tens years earlier and on the original Amiga. Just to remind how ground breaking A1000 was and still is.

OK, got my DCTV converter!

The Amiga 1000 is hooked up to the 1084S currently, so I pulled out my A500.

I have the A500 hooked up with the DCTV.
The DCTV to the DCTV RGB Converter.
The DCTV RGB Converter to one of Amigamaniacs Amiga-s-video adapters.

I using the composite output from the s-video adapter for now to my new (to me) 1701 monitor, and it works great!!!

I'll eventually move that wonderful mess to my Amiga 1000 and the chroma-luma input on my 1084S (the A1200 has the RGB).

Now I just need a hard disk setup on my A1000 to make it really useful for DCTV stuff.

if you need any software let me know, also i can send you the dctv anim of jay as well. i have a ham8 version if wanted.

@amigadave

agreed, i sold ham-e which was much better because it was rgb, however dctv with rgb converter is amazing and more efficient as it can use 3 bitplane mode.
