When you say "bare", do you mean traces only?  I take it there are no sockets or various other chips installed?  Exactly what needs to be done to get these things up and working?

yes, they are bare pcb, they have traces but you need to solder EVERY chip and socket etc.

looks like this;

already ordered all my pals + gals, ram chips/memory (except for 1, the 514400-60SOJ), one of the hard to get 74 logic chips, commodore chips and 50mhz 030 cpu + 50mhz fpu. the most expensive was the 16 soj ram chips)

now just to hit mouser for the rest of the 74 logic chips and find me some connectors...

coming soon will be a gary, paula, denise, fat agnus, amber and some cia operatives!

hopefully someone will be able to program all the pals/gals in the build-along ;) and I can ship my chips to them... (fingers crossed)...

been looking over the a1k rev0 pdf, puzzling through some german. Its not clear what kickstart it takes. Illuwatar's page sats 3.1 40.63 (but does not say, a2k, a500, a600 type etc).. the rev0 pdf _seems_ to say 'original roms'..  gba1k uses IDE, but not the same as A600 ide chip... so I assume we need an a2k kickstart?

but the original 1.3 a1k roms were files (been a LOONG time since I played with an a1k) not a rom? kinda confused what kickstart I need to get.

looks like I need to make a little pcb with an RJ20 to DIN socket adapter so I can use an a 2000/3000 keyboard.

I thought 1.2 was kickstart disk and 1.3 a ROM?
Anyway this board has two rom sockets so you burn your own or I presume use the A1200/A4000 kickstart. I need to check that however.

my understanding is, it has two sockets, one for a KS rom, and one for another KS rom and you can swap between them, so you need a single KS rom set (so not a a1200/a4000 double rom set).

just scored a craigslisted A500 mobo that will be the sacrificial lamb for all the connectors.

Someone is selling DB23 male/female connectors on ebay but these are NOT right angle solder connectors, they are for making cables, not for soldering to the mobo.

is the parts list different from v0 to v4? ie: the spreadsheet in the a1kboard_00.zip is valid for v4?? if you have the v4 files, can you release the spreadsheet?

The spreadsheet in there appears to be good for v4.

As for the GBA1000. Do not forget the board is based on the Phoneix and several expansions that Braun added to form a new design. The schematics for the most part are nothing new, it's several AMIGAs effectively hashed together and held together by Brauns magic and workarouds including the ide controller. It's the board layout/design that is unique. Brauns schematics are easier to read than the Amiga equivalents, this is the point I was trying to make.

the schematics are great, yes. but the spreadsheet tells me I need X count of resister Z, Y count of 74x chip etc. otherwise I have to go over the schematic and try and count each one individually.

the phoenix board was great, we saw quite a few, since they were locally made/designed.

I opened the project in eagle and generated parts list in which creates qunataties etc
eagle didnt like some names so it added a @ after some devices.

this may help some people

sweeeeeet. my new Amber, Super Denise (390433-02 version) and NE564 showed up today :) awesome.

Also found an ebay auction for what looks like is the card edge connector for the zorro II slot (100 pin as 2x50, 2.54mm pitch, 3A at 200C), proble is they are being sold as lots of 10 only (price is good, 60$ for 10) here

checking mouser, they have something that might work but it has lugs on the end (easy to trim off), but $14 a pop!
