sweet, installed fresh, locks up just as much as 125 did. aros has some serious bugs somewhere under virtualbox. sometimes it runs for 10 seconds sometimes for 10 minutes but always locks up...

I wish I could reproduce this bug :-( Does it only lock up if you run certain programs? Does it still crash if you just boot and do nothing?

hmm move mouse.. lockup.
start owb look at a page.. lockup.

its not a particular app, its everything and its not something thats 100% reproducable. it may be 10 seconds or 10 minutes. I've even had it idle from login, so doing nothing will make it lockup.

this is under virtualbox, settings 1 cpu, 1gb ram.

sometimes I download and run it hosted under linux version and its even worse there. often I see corrupt list messages spewing on the console. so I know there is some wild pointer memory writing going on somewhere..

What version of VirtualBox?

virtualbox 4.0.2 on an intel quad 64bit 8gb ram, using intel VT-x and VT-d for iommu etc

I give icaros 1gb ram, 64mb video ram

win2k has no problems
winxp has no problems
haikuos has no problems
freebsd 4,6,8 have no problems
solaris x86 has no problems
a bunch of linux distros have no problems (from really really 2.0.x systems old to current)

Icaros 1.2.5 didn't work at all with VirtualBox 4 due to the way VBox 4 handles the emulated ATA device. AROS developers had to modify something to accomodate Oracle product choices and I just hope this didn't lead to other problems that didn't exist before. Anyway, I suggest to run Icaros in a VirtualBox 3.xx installation (I am running Icaros on VBox 3 without issues), unless you haven't any serious reason to use VBox 4 with other operating systems. When AROS doesn't work it's not always an AROS bug.

the problem with this is that microsoft, linux, freebsd, solaris, haiku didnt need to modify anything. Suggests AROS is doing something odd/out of spec with the ATA device...

will do some more testing but will see...
