Hi all i am new to this forum and this is my 1st post. I have a blizzard 1240 which says blizzard 1260 rev II by phase 5 on the back. The board actually had a 68040/40mhz fitted with 80mhz crystal and no voltage regulator to receive the full 5 volts it requires. Shorlty after receiving the working board from ebay i wanted to upgrade it to a 68060/50mhz so i bought a full MC68060RC50 with mask revision 71E41J lovely and soldered an 060 socket on the board along with a socketed 50mhz crystal. and installed the 060. I have also installed i a 3.3 volt fixed voltage regulator to give the 060 3.3volts but apon powering up the board in my amiga 1200 trapdoor it doesn't boot and just shows a grey screen. I am really dissopointed that it doesn't work and wondered if anyone on this forum could give me some detailed help to hopefully make it work as i see everyone seems to know their stuff on this forum. When i look at rev II blizzard 1260 boards on the net they show a row of i think small diodes along side the voltage regulator but these are missing on my board I have a woking 64mb 72pin memory simm installed which i know worked great when the board was a 040/40mhz so i think the memory is ok.
If anyone could post back i would be truly gratefull or if anyone has done this conversion, even better. sorry for the long essay folks but i need all your expert opinions :-?  :-?

James

Hi and thanks for the info mate, i will get a clean 040 and pop it in the socket rather than using the desoldered one. Just wondered how do i upgrade the firmware for the 68606 cpu ? for the board to recognise it and the only jumper i can see no the board is to cpoy the rom into fastram for faster execution. Should there be any jumpers onboard to set which cpu i have etc

Kind regards

james

Hi, thanks for the info. I have done the solder bridge as you said just above the voltage regulator but could you show me where the SMD risistor is located as there are lots of risistors above the 50mhz crystal and im not sure which one you mean, sorry to be a pain

Regards
James
