WTB: 4000 monitor (Australia)

    Looking for a monitor that will work with an Amiga 4000. I am in Sydney Australia.

Sorry, that was my first post and I am new to Amiga. I had an Amiga 1000 when they first came out. But have been away from the scene since. I just assumed that I need something Amiga specific as a Monitor.

If that is the case with the LCD then I guess I want cable to go from D-15 or whatever it is on the back of the Amiga 4000 to SVGA or DVI or whatever it is that LCD monitors take now days.

That could ship from anywhere... Where can I get a cable like that, or how do I build one, is there a cable 4000 video cable building URL..?

I also need a keyboard and mouse. The keyboard looks like PS/2, is that right?

Sorry, I am an Amiga newbie, my other machine is a 16 x 400MHz MIPS R12000 Onyx2 with 32Gb of RAM, DIVO/Genlock/etc and lots of separate disk arrays and JBOD disks, but I have another 8 CPUs coming in the mail.

Thanks for all your help. My Amiga 4000 still hasn't arrived. Grrr.

I bought a AGA to SVGA adapater and a mouse from the place in the above link. The site did one or two quirky things but overall the transaction was fairly smooth. I missed a Commodore monitor locally on fleabay but I am sure another will turn up soon.

I don't like the idea of modding stuff to look like a PC.
I hate PCs, Microslop, I mean Winblows, I mean... even more so.. I would go the custom tower case as a last resort. That is one nice thing about about my other machine no one mistakes it for a PC, they just back out of the room slowly.It is up to 24 CPUs and 38400Mb (37.5Gb) of RAM.
(www.pymblesoftware.com/onyx2.html) Don't drool too much I don't own it, it owns me, and I am always working on it.I am sitting infront of 24 idle CPU meters and another 8 idle CPU meters on the 8 process Origin 300 (8Gb RAM) thinking ... I should stop surfing and go render something..

Seems like the Amiga clubs in NSW are dead, all the links and emails either bounce or are incorrect. Good to see at least one person into Amiga stuff in WA.

The A4000 should be here very soon and I will test with what I have but I might watch that item too. They have more than 90 of them. See how things go and if I get one of these I will let you know how well it works.

The same guy who sold me 4 of my MIPS r12k dual CPU node boards... Just this motorcycle mechanic type dude in the Carolinas state-side.

Have you ever spent a whole day soldering, testing, soldering testing, soldering testing, the 9 fan module on the bottom a 1998-ish Onyx2 ...? Tried to figure out which way is up when trying to build a hyper-cube with Craylink cables... Look at my link in the above post, in November when I bought it, that puppy had 4 CPUs, 5Gb of RAM and a single connection from one xtown to one port on the ktown in the Infinite Reality3.Now it has 24 CPUs, 37Gb of RAM and 2 graphic pipes.. Can you imagine the amount of coarse language, saulking and soldering involved...?

I want to believe the caps have held, the battery hasn't leaked and I will just kick it into life. Let me have my delusions until the box gets here.

The cable that comes with it looks like it does component too, not RGB. This will also be additional.

I'd recommend you buy a video card for the Amy, either the Picasso IV or an Arxon. Then you can just chuck on a cheapo VGA.

I got a 240V to 120V converter. Plugged it in and it did stuff.
Plugged several different monitors all of them say "sync out of range" and shutdown. Every few seconds it flashes the 3 LEDs on the keyboard like it is waiting for something... Maybe the kickstart disk.

I haven't had a chance to do much with the Amiga, I have been working on my 1.45GHz PowerPC pSeries 9114-275... I swear to god I am sooo sick of working on it. Its a beast compared to SGIs, HP-UX, Alphas and SUNs.

I got a A520 from fleabay..

The thing is, it seems to be grey scale and I have run a portable DVD player on that monitor (in colour) so...

I will start reading the posts here and learn much about the machine as I can..

I think I have a dead keyboard or the keyboard I got is probably from an Amiga 2000, 3000 or something...

Anyway, the keyboard does nothing... But it does have Amiga keys on on it..
Plug a PC keyboard in and I get same character repeated like a bad mapping... I think the Amiga compiler floppys actually work. Haven't installed anything yet but I could read the disk..
