Broken a600 case tabs
« on: June 07, 2008, 06:50:40 AM »
I received my 600 tonight.  It looks great but has a minor problem.  All of the tabs on the bottom half of the case are broken.  This prevents the two halves of the case from holding together in the back.  The best solution would be to acquire a new bottom half of the case.  But I suspect these get brittle and break all the time.  Is there a well-known fix for this problem?

They're not really connected to the keyboard. There's four of them at the back of the case.  They're on the bottom half of the case.  The top half hooks into them, then the case is screwed together at the front.  So now it's only the screws at the front and one at the side that are holding the case together.

I'm probably going to cook up some fix that involves drilling holes to pass home depot hardware through.  Maybe some wingnuts on the underside to facilitate opening the case in the future.  That should hold until someone sells a 600 shell.

There are plenty of sellers selling A600 cases, I would put the A600 in a new case. Just be careful how many times you open and close the case and it will be fine. The trick is, do everything slowly and gently.
