Easy answer....ditch the door!

You don't need it and it improves air-flow without it anyway.   To stop the card 'sagging', just use a bit of hot glue to hold your card in place

Do you think it would be ok/possible to sit the card above that white plastic hinge (where you have the glue) instead of at the bottom? I think that should work as that would only make about 2mm difference which should not flex the card too much.

No don't do that it because it would put pressure on the card (never a good thing), just mount it the same way I did it and all will be well with the world.
