A4000 CPU slot issue
« on: June 05, 2008, 03:23:36 PM »
Hi!

I had to change my motherboard with a new one. My problem is that the CPU slot is a bit tilted so that my CPU board is no longer parallel to the motherboard. My CPU board is a CSPPC with a CVPPC. If no other pressure is made to the board is it OK that it is only supported by the slot, or will it damage the board over time? Do I really need to get yet another motherboard? An other issue this poses is that I need to set my harddrive in the top position because of the CVPPC is in the way.

I use the old plastic spacers. It's just that the CSPPC is not in parallel to the new motherboard and I can't force the CSPPC down so that it is parallel without damaging things. It is the slot on the motherboard that's tilted so that it is not possible to secure the CSPPC.

Edit:
Here are some pictures I hope helps illustrate my problem.

The motherboard doesn't look tampered with at all. I would say it is in mint condition besides my problem. This is a non-issue with an A3630.

I moved the spacers closest to the slot for at least some support. I will never put in a secondary harddrive so I can live with it being at the top.

@Framiga

The CSPPC is not bent. The slot on the motherboard is tilted, not bent, seems to have been from factory this way. The CSPPC was perfectly aligned with the old motherboard. I have refitted the CSPPC several times and ensured that it is fitted correctly.

I have now added some longer spacers to support the card. Because of the tilt i wont be able to use a secondary harddrive or i.e a G-Rex :/

@Framiga

What troubles would I experience other than what Melott experienced?

@rkauer

I seem to remember that the original C= spacers that came with the desktop A4000/040 is ok, but there were some troubles with those that came with the tower model from Escom being too long ,though it seem these would be great to have now ;)
