New A2000
« on: May 01, 2008, 03:47:47 AM »
I just picked up a 2nd nicely outfitted A2000.

It has a Fusion Forty card, Video Toaster 4000, DPS Personal Component Video Adapter, A2091 card w/SCSI HD and over 32 MB Ram total for the system.

It came from the original owner and is so clean that I'm almost afraid to use it.

I've already got a set of upgrade roms on the way. Once they are in I'll swap the original 50MB HD for a larger one and install OS 3.1 .

I've got a three day weekend coming up, so I should have plenty of tinker time for it.

Already have the parts for battery replacement on the way.

Question though, how durable are the A2000 boards? In other words, I have a working machine right now, but am I likely to have problems from removing all of the internals, pulling the board and then doing the solder work.

These things are now about 20 years old and I'm afraid I might damage something just handling the boards.
