PCMCIA CompactFlash problem
« on: December 17, 2008, 02:12:13 AM »
I recently bought a ton of Amiga stuff from Amigakit. I am having some annoying problems with the PCMCIA easyADF kit though. Whenever I stick the supplied 1GB compactflash into the easyadf adaptor in the PCMCIA slot(A1200), it shows as 'CF0:NDOS' on the workbench screen and declares that it is not a dos disk in the easyadf application. I have searched far and wide trying to figure out what the problem is. I hope you people have had experience with this problem. Thanks in advance.

No. I assumed all of the software would have been taken care of with the easyADF installation software. How would I install fat95?

I have no fast ram at all though... Just the standard ram the A1200 was supplied with.

I installed everything it wanted me to previously and now the darned ADAPCMCFL floppy disk is having read errors. The tech support sent me an ADF of the diskette but how the heck am I supposed to save it to a floppy if I cant get the Amiga computer to properly recognise the CompactFlash. This is intolerable, especially after spending 500 bucks.

I managed to reinstall the ADAPCMCFL software just fine. It recognises that there is a compact flash inserted in both workbench and the easyADF program but it says exactly this *System Request* "Not a DOS disk in device CF0" *retry, cancel*. I dont understand why there would be any problems with the CF's format. It was supplied by amigakit with the easyadf software and equipment.

Edit: Another problem im encountering is that the CF card is sometimes not recognised at all. it takes a considerable amount of time and effort, inserting the CF, to make it even recognise it as a drive at all. I have heard that some CF cards are crap and the Amiga can be very touchy with crap CF cards. Any insight?

Edit 2: Ok nevermind. It doesnt like cards formatted in Fat32. I still have the CF0:NDOS, Not a dos disk in device CF0 problem when formatted in FAT. ugh.

Yes I reformatted the card as Fat32 originally but it wouldnt recognise it anymore on the Amiga until I formatted back to FAT. (Im not saying I have been able to get it to work at all though, 2 days of trying with no luck *puts head thru wall*)

I may go out and buy a small size sandisk as I have read that they work well with amiga. The only problem there is that small capacity CF cards are hard to come by.

After looking around I have decided to go out and buy a SanDisk Ultra II Compact Flash (2GB) card. I have heard they are reliable with the PCMCIA adaptors on migs.
