How many are Amiga only?
« on: February 12, 2003, 08:29:09 AM »
This must have been asked before, but here goes again.

I guess this is in response to the WarPipers "Bailing Out".

So I suppose the questin that it raised for me was, when does a person discovered that they have "bailed out" or what happens when they do?

I don't know if there are any people out there that only have an Amiga (or 5) and no other machines. Over the years, as I have more options, I have used the Amiga less and less often. These days I find myself using the iBook quite a lot. The PC is a paperweight and only gets turned on when it absolutely has to. My Amiga still gets a workout every couple of days, even though the hardware is old and she can hardly stay up for more than a few hours without having a seizure. Sometimes she won't even boot without getting her bits jiggled.

But, how infrequently do you use the Amiga before you decide you have thrown in the towel, or do you throw in the towel and then not use it anymore?

Are there still people here who have only one computer and it's an Amiga and are feeling trapped by it?

Wow, took me a long time to get back to this thread to see what had become of it. I really enjoyed reading this. I was surprised to see that there were still Amiga onlies in the world simply because there is so much computing equipment available for so little these days. For e.g. I have a 486/Linux machine for my firewall webserver, that my A4000PPC sits behind. The wife has a couple of Macs on the network, my tenant has a PC plugged in, I have the work PC, and the Zaurus is on wireless, but I still love my Miggy (love it like I love my guitar). Still haven't been able to feel that way about another computer.

But reading these posts has made me all toasty inside. It's also really nice to see posts from people who I had not seen before. Thanks everyone.
