4000 expansion cards not recognized
« on: April 24, 2008, 05:17:58 PM »
I got my new Prometheus board in today and it doesnt look like the Board Diagnostics menu is recognizing it.  Tried 3 of the 4 zorro slots and still nothing.  I tried it with and without my Voodoo and ethernet cards.  Any advice?

The power is seated properly.  Need to find my multimeter..  I'm using the Expansion Board Diagnostics under the Early Startup screen, and its not showing up under there or ShowConfig.

Multimeter says its getting proper voltage and I have tried PromInfo and it says theres no working prometheus board found.  I know the zorro slots used to work with a Toaster and Flyer setup.  Possible that my daughterboard could be fried?

Tried an old Trumpcard Pro in there and it isnt being found either, so it sounds like its a zorro problem.  Any way to determine if its my daughter board or Buster.

Reseated buster and still nothing.  Anyone possibly have a buster I can test out, even if its a Rev 9?  I'm running out of ideas...

Well, still no luck.  Tried an old Rev9 Buster and it still wont recognize any expansion cards.  Other than the daughterboard, I'm out of ideas.  I swapped the 7407 chip on it and checked the autoconfig traces.  Anyone have a daughterboard I could borrow or buy?  I'm beyond frustrated now.

4000 expansion cards not recognized

Changed the subject of this thread.

Well still no luck.  Replaced both the 7432 and 7404 ICs on the daughterboard.  Checked all the traces and everything seems to be fine on the daughterboard.

Followed this writeup and still nothing is recognized.

Anyone have a similar problem?  The 4000 works just fine otherwise.  Swapped Busters, cleaned contacts, checked voltage...  Is there any other chip I should look at swapping?
