I think you're right.
It's all got to come down to what you want to do - how you want to do it - and what you can afford.
The only reason I bought my 2000 last month was because I was finally in a position to spend the money on what is essentially nostalgia. If that didn't come through - my B plan was to jumble together spare parts and run linux booting into UAE and work towards getting some cheap hardware replacements to run Amithlon on it.
I think the minimig is a great idea, but I probably won't be buying one for now either.
